We're looking for a Product Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Product Engineer is tasked with the development of new variations of offered products as well as the improvement and standardization of current products while maintaining quality and support. This includes creating accurate drawings and documentation necessary for successful manufacturing of dehumidification equipment. To accomplish this, the Product Engineer must create product SolidWorks models, assembly drawings, as well as production documentation. This position also requires a strong grasp of controls and electrical schematics and reports to the Product Engineering Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Modify units to meet the requirements for custom applications and produce all necessary production documentation for successful product manufacturing and testing.
  • Modify existing partial 3D product models to meet the particular requirements for a given order.
  • Ensure drawings and designs adhere to established specifications and standards.
  • Product changes: includes developing drawings for release, Engineering Change Orders, production instructions, and bill of material changes.
  • Interpretation of new application work / product development ideas and concepts into a fully dimensioned design suitable for direct manufacture and assembly.
  • Assist manufacturing in the assembly and testing of products.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and maintain an understanding of dehumidification equipment.
  • Assist sales with standard and customized product and application information.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong customer service focus.
  • Maintain professional standards of integrity and honesty in representing Desert Aire.
  • Maintain the quality service standards of Desert Aire.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 5 or more years of experience in similar role.
  • A high degree of experience in 3D modeling and 2D CAD programs and willingness to adapt those skills to SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Continuously improve CAD expertise and help other CAD Team Members with technical support, training and general assistance as required. Designing with sheet metal preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD design commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Familiarity with interpreting/ developing electrical drawings a plus
  • Familiarity with HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred
  • A critical eye and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and have a “Make it Happen” attitude
  • Understands and executes the proper and cost effective design of unit cabinets and internals as required.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Access, and Word highly preferre
