Overview:
The course will cover all pool and outdoor air units. You can view the complete topic list by clicking the link above. Technicians are required to pass a quiz at the end of each day before they will be CST Certified. NOTE: There is a reduced cost for companies sending more than 1 technician.
Agenda - Classes start promptly at the listed times:
Day 1 - 8:00 am – 5:00 pm - Pool Units
Day 2 – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm – Outdoor Air Units
Class Fee:
$500 - 1 person
$250 - Per each additional person

Classes start promptly at the listed times. Class will not be delayed for people who arrive late.
Desert Aire provides a complimentary continental breakfast and lunch during training days and hours. Additional meals will be at the cost of your / your firm's cost.
Also, the class fee does NOT include hotel or transportation. These arrangements and costs are your / your firm’s responsibility.
Technicians Must Bring
Desert Aire will be training on how to use Carel BacSet software for open protocol connections. Technicians must bring a laptop and Ethernet cable with them to use during training. The laptop must be equipped with operating system Windows XP or higher. THIS IS MANDATORY
Desert Aire will be providing crossover cable adapters and USB to 485 converters.
Multiple technicians attending from the same company are allowed to share 1 laptop and Ethernet cable amongst themselves.
Registration Fee - Details
A $75 nonrefundable registration fee is required per student with each application. The balance is due in full 10 days prior to the start of training. We accept check and credit card as well as a P.O. if you have an existing account with Desert Aire. All payment details are outlined on the application form. Desert Aire will confirm your class reservations after processing your application.
Included with registration is a Carel cable which is a USB to 485 converter. Students who sign up for both classes will receive one cable. Firms sending more than one person from a company will receive 1 converter per student. Cables will be handed out during training.
Software and Hardware
HVAC Pro Software
HVAC Pro Software is available upon request and it can be ordered for $450.
HVAC Pro is the software program that interacts with Johnson Controls Metasys® controllers. For many years, Desert Aire has used Metasys® controllers on many of our units and these units will still require the use of HVAC Pro for updating.
Laptop Requirements for Loading and Using HVAC Pro
If you intend to purchase HVAC Pro, please understand that your laptop must meet the following requirements:
• Operating System – Windows XP or older and Windows 7 - 32 Bit only.
• Windows Vista has not been approved by Johnson Controls
• CD ROM Drive – Software is available on CD only
Connection Requirements
In addition to having the proper computer, you will need the appropriate Desert Aire-approved connector cable that is compatible with your laptop. Desert Aire holds its training at its corporate headquarters in Germantown, WI. We recommend that you stay at either the Country Inn or the AmericInn Lodge which are both around 1 mile away from the plant. Desert Aire can also pass along a special reduced rate to all students who stay at the AmericInn or the Country Inn & Suites. See info below.

Transportation
Transportation from Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee to the hotel as well as from the hotel to Desert Aire is the sole responsibility of each CST student attending the class. We recommend that you inquire about rental car agencies with offices at Mitchell International Airport. Desert Aire is approximately 30 miles Northwest of the airport.
